Yes, it'll all melt causing a giant house fire in which you will be killed.
(Of course not, it's just light, you twit.)

The laser cutting machine I use at work to score metal and cut plastic and wood is "just light" too. A shade more powerful than a laser pointer though. :)

Well I ment that if the laser pointer was used alot on an LCD will it cause damage to the area that it is pointed at the most?

In theory, no. But stranger things have happen.

I was just wondering really, I know that unless your sit there with it directly pointed at your eye for ages it wont damage it. I was curious to if the LCD pannels out there now have the potential to get buggered by a pointer.

Retina cells are a bit more delicate than LCD monitors, though. But you'd probably complain more about dead pixels in your eye...

Can you even do anything interesting with a laser pointer, like some mods to make it more powerful?

No, laser diodes burn out very quickly if more current is applied to them.

The laser pointers you can buy don't max out the diodes' specs tho.

True, this is mainly for cheaper circuits that lack current control. But they're still a class IIIa laser, which means you arn't going to get anything special by increasing the power a little.
