This weekend, I accidentally dropped my PSP from about waist height, in it's soft carrying pouch thing. It had been in standby mode at the time, and as soon as I turned it on, it displayed the "enter date/time" thing from when the PSP is turned on for the first time, which worried me greatly. I pressed X and it immediately went back to the system menu. Everything seemed fine. All the buttons worked, screen didn't seem broken/scratched, and the thing played music/pictures/homebrew fine. Shortly later, I tried playing Lumines to check that was ok too. I got into a game, laid down a few pieces, and the PSP locked up. I hard reset it, and tried again. This time, I got to the Lumines menu and it locked up. Tried once more, and it got to the system menu before locking up. The time before lockup got shorter and shorter with each attempt, until bam, the screen displayed nothing at all. It turned on, and illuminated, but displayed only black. I was real depressed.
Then, about an hour later, I tried again out of sheer desperation, and YES, it got back to the system menu again! Still locked up, but at least it wasn't blackscreening anymore. So what should I do about this? I'm guessing nobody knows how to fix it, but if I send it back to Sony will they fix it? And if so, for how much money? I'm also guessing that they'll slap on 2.60 before sending it back *sigh* but I'm guessing nobody knows enough about the PSP yet to do home-fix-it jobs...
