Whats a good DVD player that plays EVERYTHING

I currently own an old DVD player and am looking to buy a new DVD player that can play most non-DVD video formats(.avi,.mpg, plus some of the newer encoded stuff if possible) without a hassle.

Are there any DVD players out right now that can do that? I do own a Toshiba DVD player that SUPPOSEDLY plays .wmv files but as of yet, I've yet to get it to play any said files.

where can i get a program like this? anywhere i can downlaod a good one?
