Torrents.

Right now, all my entire uTorrent application is slowed down to a rather sad ~5kbs. Is there any apps around that can.. per se.. speed it up?

Also, I'm running on cable here, so I know it's capable of speeds of 100kbs+

Got the appropriate ports open/forwarded? Is there a port testing feature in uTorrent to check?

If the torrent sucks and is half dead, you won't get very good speeds.  That is pretty much the reason that not many people use torrents.

Advanced Options -> peer.lazy_bitfield = true

Also, select an unconventional port, preferably above 50000. ISPs like to block known torrent ports.

Bitcomet is almost as bad as azureus. Don't switch, just find better torrents.

azureus blows compared  to  Bitcomet

Every program mentioned so far does multiple torrents.

 Yeah, what are you talking about?

uTorrent is a good program, small, low impact and with plenty of features. Its the one I use.

Azureus give the best speeds IMO but only slightly better then the others and it is a pig! Its a Java app. and devours memory, CPU time and even some of your bandwidth. Use it for a long time but switched cause of its flaws. Not for a low end system.

Bitcomet is passable but is the weakest of the 3 mentioned. Its not *bad* mind you; good speeds, nice interface, average system usage, etc etc. Its just not a winner in any of these catagories. Its one of the most commonly used torrent programs out there.
