Yo. I want to get a CD player for my car - I don't care if it has any special features but I don't want a complete shitter either. Just getting CDs played well is all I need. What brand should I get, what shop should I go to? I am in the UK. Please tell me all about it.

iRiver makes some pretty nice CD players, I highly recommend them.

Here is what I know so far
Pioneer=Good compatibility.
JVC=Compatibility nightmare with burned CDs.
Dual=A generic brand that doesn't last and has a shitty warranty.
Sony=Somewhere between JVC and Pioneer

I have a Pioneer 4500 MP3 in my car and it rules. It doesn't have any special features, such as a multicolor display or a hideaway face, but it plays the music, and that is what matters to me.

Mac Mini. Multiple streams, one for each passenger. CD/DVD/Digital. Fits in a standard dash mount. Voice activation or touch screen.
Installation kits are already for sale. This is cool.

I've had good luck with JVC units. Got one in the car right now that reads just about everything I throw at it, MP3's and all.

Best of all, most of the JVC line comes with a LINE-IN jack on the faceplate, making things like IPpd hookups painless. (No FM tuner or weird adapters necessary)
