Digital Cameras

I want to get a digital camera and I've been looking around at some reviews and buyer's guides only to be confused. Im after a mid range camera, from what I have seen it's about 200.

What should I get?

Shit, it looks like something went wrong there...
The apostraphie in Im is now a ? and the same for the pound sign before 200?

Your browser probably returned something that wasn't encoded in UTF-8.

There's currently a bug in posting a new thread; the page doesn't specify a character set so your browser just guesses.

Unless youre doing ditigal photgraphy and need huge ass pictures, don't get anything over 4mp. 4mp is over 2000x2000, and I found that I only needed the 1mp mode for most pictures I take.

3 or 4 megapixel is all you need really. Canon has really good point-and-click cameras. Pentax also has some very nice point-and-click. I currently have a Pentax Optio 4si

Found the camera you like? Check dpreview.com to see if they have a review on it. Great digicam site.

Make sure it`s small enough too, especially if you travel a lot. Carrying a bulky camera around isn`t any fun, and has a tendancy to get left behind.

Make sure your shutter speed is good too, otherwise you`re gonna get a lot of blurry pictures.

Good optical zoom and image stabilization are the best features I've ever encountered in the digicam area.  Size I could care less since I never carry a camera around without some sort of case/protection for it anyway.

http//www.amazon.com/...
Cybershot DST-5.1 with 3X Optical Zoom.
Size of a credit card, but of course it's thicker >_> LOL.

Is it possible to get a decent digicam for general web use for about $50?

Yes, if you buy used.

Sweet! Is there a good site to get used electronics? I'd go ebay, but I'm a little wary spending that much there if there is a better site (like one which can guaruntee a return if it doesn't work)

I've had decent luck with compgeeks.com.  You really have to keep your eyes open and check thier specials often.

Sometimes I run across good deals on new merchandise on gotapex.com as well.  In particular, keep your eyes peeled for the dell specials.  They routinely run 15% or 20% off consumer electronics, which of course includes digital cameras.
