I don`t think so. As long as it has NetMD on it, you should have no problems whatsoever. HiMD is a little overrated, in my opinion.

Haven't used HiMD, or even NetMD, but I'd say it's probably fine if it's at least NetMD.
I have one of the first MDLP portables, but it's such a bitch to record in realtime. I have a deck too, but it lacks MDLP, so it's pretty much only good for direct CD copies.

The only problem with the NetMD is the shitty, shitty, bad and shitty DRM tech, and the hideous interface program you have to use to get your music onto the thing.
I don't actually know what HiMD is, but NetMD is pretty good. I enjoy mine, and the ability to change what I listen to with a $3 disc, instead of a $300 hard-drive

MDs have some definite technical problems. The Sony app to upload things is the worst program ever, and ATRAC/ATRAC3 are very bad at compression (worse than MP3).

Hay guys, thanks for the replies (this was my post, forgot to fill in my name last time). It was a NetMD player (yellow and silver) i need to play with it soon. However it didnt end up being my favorite present, i got "Shaun of the Dead" which i only mentioned once, and a real shocker was this Saitek PC Gaming Keyboard, that i only barely blurbed about to my dad, but he looked it up and found it, i am soooo happy. Seriously, these blue lights are awesome.
