I am in the market for a TV which is HD capable and under $800. I do not wish to buy Sony WEGAS because they have spotty durability for myself and are quite expensive to repair. I am looking towards Samsung or Toshiba's lines of television, but could use recommendations. Thank you very much.

Wait for plasma and LCD to become dirt cheap. Sometime January next year.

Sony's quality has been going down the shitter for a while. At first most their electronics were quite good. Then their CD players went to shit (I used to work at an electronics repair shop, and if it contained a bust CD drive it probably was a Sony). Now their TVs are beginning to go that route too.

Bump because I'm also kind of interested in a good 32 inch-ish HDTV to replace my shitty Daewoo. I'd like some opinions on some good yet not too pricy TVs.

Panasonic makes some nice digital HD ready televisions. I think Radio Shack carries them, if you wanted to go see the clarity of the TV. I believe the 32" one is $800

Mitsubishi is quality too... They last for years.

Forgot... 32" HD is a very small size, if it's in regular format. Just to let you know.

>>9 Can`t argue witht that... but if you want quality, HD, and 30-39 inch, you really should be spending more than $800.

At $1200 I might as well scrape up a few more bucks and get a big ass tv :(
Then again I'm going to be getting the TV through someone's Bestbuy employee discount

If you don`t mind projection... $1400 - $1500 should get you somwhere in the realm of 50+" digital HD.

projection.. gb2/80s
u want 50" plasma for 12k
could try actual dlp projectors though... that you aim at the wall... they are cheap
Plasma can start on fire randomly. And they burn out quicker than LCD.

>>17 And they take roughly 25 times the electricity.

So it looks like I won't be able to get some bestbuy employee discount going on. Boy that sucks.
I've been looking a lot at a Samsung TX-P3071WH (or something like that). 30" wide, built in tuner, also has DVI. Bump for more opinions. Also, more than watching regular TV this is more for playing games.
