Detroit's out so I've lost much of my motivation to care.
But I'm so goddamned sick of southern teams with virtually no fanbase winning it so I'm leaning to ottawa by default

great refs in this game. the alfredsson situation. let him get away with not only taking a slapshot *aimed* at s.niedermeyer, but also with a punch, in front of the ref's face, to getzlaf's face.
on the other hand, don cherry was the star of the game with his great second intermission americans-being-pussies commentary.

Am I the only one who's really getting sick of Cherry's pro-military promotions? It's all nice and good he supports the troops and all that crap but he spends fucking half of coach's corner giving sob stories about people who died in afghanistan when he's supposed to be talking about fucking HOCKEY. It's Hockey Night in Canada, not The National.

here in america we got "you americans are pussies" instead of "lol military."

I envy you, #7. at least "you americans are pussies" actually has some potential to stay on the subject of, you know, hockey.

he went on a rant about how nhl or someone had to make hockey more family friend to appeal to american audiences, which is why there are less fights or basically why "old time hockey" is gone for good. brett hull agreed.
then he went on to say pronger's hit wasn't worthy of the suspension, but since pronger had that hit on holmstrom it was a "lol saw it coming" thing. brett hull agreed.
some more senile babbling followed by "alfredsson (i think it was him) didn't kick the puck in, therefore it was good." brett hull disagreed and don cherry called him on it due to the brett hull/hasek goal from years back.
in the end don cherry said he loved swedish women.

i was at the game, working unfortunately (i'm an usher), and when i saw that cup my eyes got all watery.
what suprised me the most about this game was anaheim suiting up a lot of their "nobody" players such as rome, hartigan, shannon, etc. hell, they even suited parros for the game. he didn't get a huge reaction when holding the cup like i thought he would since the last 2 or so months of the season people cheered him more than the team.
