I Hate Sports

Let me start off by saying I'm not trying to troll here.  Ruffle a few feathers?  Absolutely; somebody please explain it to me. Also let me say that I know there are some pro atheletes who do very good, helpful, charitable things.  They do have my respect, though that extends only to their person, not their career and certainly not any of their teammates.

The #1 reason I hate sports is the fans.  (I'll get to some real relevant points in a moment.)  Your average fan is loud, obnoxious, and rude when it comes to their sport.  Get them drunk or angry and they become something one step away from a terrorist.  If you don't agree, find some of the news stories in which sports fans fought against each other violently and relentlessly.  They'll vandalize and terrorize anybody that gets in their path.

Granted, that's the worst of the worst, but those things do happen regularly.  And yet, the obsessive, reclusive sports fan is considered "passionate" and normal.  But ah, what if somebody is just the same way about scifi or anime?  They're immediately classified a nerd or geek.   Can we say double standard?  Just to compare, your worst otaku is socially inept and creepy.  Quiet and unobtrusive versus loud and destructive... and who holds higher social status?

The #2 reason is because sports on TV interrupt my watching schudule.  You want your game on TV?  Fine, that's commericialism.  You get your four hours, and then give me my programming back.  You can read how the game turned out in the newspaper the next day.  Or heck, these days, just go on the internet.

#3: The Players.  For the most part, professional players are obnoxious, grandstanding, egotistical jerks.  They beat their women and managers.  They care more about looking good than their team playing well.  And the bulk of them can't even add both digits of their IQ.  Anything that's got a bunch of people like that in it, I want nothing to do with.

#4: Why is this stuff popular?  If it's such a great thing, why aren't you out there doing it yourself?  On the same vein, why does it need to be so commericialized.  I could understand if somebody's home team were important to them, but a whole fucking league?  Seriously, if you can care so much about some game SOMEBODY ELSE is playing, you must have no worries in life.

For the people who typed tl;dr, we are well aware there are people who has ADHD and cannot read more than two words before stopping.  No need to waste your time stating the obvious.

It seem well constructed, but it's more or less throwing stereotypes around.

#1: Many fans who watch sports are not loud or obnoxious, just that those are the types of fans that stands out.    The only case I have of fans getting violent frequently were international soccer events, even then, nationalism is to blame, not the actual sport itself.

Otaku is the minority, therefore people look down upon it.  Just about everyone and their dog are fans of at least one sport worldwide, thus impossible to be discriminated against.

#2: The only sport I could think of at the moment which applies is baseball because there is no time limit.  Other things like basketball and football always ends after 3 hours, and I've never heard of poker or pool not finish within their time limits.

#3: This statement is no better than saying all anime fans are lolicons.  If you don't want to be stereotyped against then don't stereotype people.  The same as #1, wifebeating/raping/steroid using athletes are talked over alot more than athletes who has good performances and does not have bad attitude.  Just because those few bad apples have huge media attention does not justify what you said.

#4: It's popular because people love conflict.  The drama involved in two teams competing at professional level attracts people.

It's a form of escapism, to dream about doing something you will never be able to do.  It's similar to browsing 4chan to throw your real life worries away temporary and enjoy the updated contents.

>>You didnt even mention how overpaid sports stars are.

When people, and I mean alot of people, are willing to pay $500 just to see one game and charge $6 for a hot dog, with this much cash coming in the management had to up the salary to attract players.
