I Hate Sports

Let me start off by saying I'm not trying to troll here.  Ruffle a few feathers?  Absolutely; somebody please explain it to me. Also let me say that I know there are some pro atheletes who do very good, helpful, charitable things.  They do have my respect, though that extends only to their person, not their career and certainly not any of their teammates.

The #1 reason I hate sports is the fans.  (I'll get to some real relevant points in a moment.)  Your average fan is loud, obnoxious, and rude when it comes to their sport.  Get them drunk or angry and they become something one step away from a terrorist.  If you don't agree, find some of the news stories in which sports fans fought against each other violently and relentlessly.  They'll vandalize and terrorize anybody that gets in their path.

Granted, that's the worst of the worst, but those things do happen regularly.  And yet, the obsessive, reclusive sports fan is considered "passionate" and normal.  But ah, what if somebody is just the same way about scifi or anime?  They're immediately classified a nerd or geek.   Can we say double standard?  Just to compare, your worst otaku is socially inept and creepy.  Quiet and unobtrusive versus loud and destructive... and who holds higher social status?

The #2 reason is because sports on TV interrupt my watching schudule.  You want your game on TV?  Fine, that's commericialism.  You get your four hours, and then give me my programming back.  You can read how the game turned out in the newspaper the next day.  Or heck, these days, just go on the internet.

#3: The Players.  For the most part, professional players are obnoxious, grandstanding, egotistical jerks.  They beat their women and managers.  They care more about looking good than their team playing well.  And the bulk of them can't even add both digits of their IQ.  Anything that's got a bunch of people like that in it, I want nothing to do with.

#4: Why is this stuff popular?  If it's such a great thing, why aren't you out there doing it yourself?  On the same vein, why does it need to be so commericialized.  I could understand if somebody's home team were important to them, but a whole fucking league?  Seriously, if you can care so much about some game SOMEBODY ELSE is playing, you must have no worries in life.

Wow.  I was hoping to read something that actually had valid points.  I enjoy sports, perhaps even more than the "average" person.  I dont wear sports clothing (i did when i was younger), or do anything crazy, but I'll get into a game Im watching if its my team playing.  I'd say the stupidest point this guy tried to make was his tv scheduling bullshit.  So if a football game takes a little longer then expected, or a baseball game goes into extra innings, or a hockey game goes into double overtime, those sports fans should just wait til its in the newspapers, or go straight to their computer and find out who won?  So if you're watching some anime/sci-fi movie that you've never seen, and someone turned it off right as you were about to find out the truth to the plot, you wouldnt be pissed?  I know movies dont run longer then expected, but think about it that way.

Its funny cause your topic could have made many more valid points.  I like sports, but could still bitch about things I think should be done differently.  You didnt even mention how overpaid sports stars are.  Thats pretty much the main thing I see wrong, and you failed to mention it.  Or do you agree that they should be getting paid that much, you just dont understand why people like to watch sports?

Why would someone want to watch a game other people are playing?   Try asking yourself why someone would want to watch an animated movie about something that never even happened, and in most cases, are pretty much impossible to happen?  Or why would someone want to watch some dudes fly through space and talk in a monotone voice?

You probably wont even read this, but Im pretty curious what motivated you to start a topic about your hatred for sports
