Legitimately though, what is the most efficient way to generate energy? must be at least semi-realistic (fusion is semi-realistic)

the most easy answer is to say that we still depend on fossil fuels and that the businesses that where set up to supply us with fossil energy have evolved to become a powerful position (castle) to be very influential economicly and politically. Therefore it's safe to say it will take a very long time before we are 100% depended on alternative energies(y).

The most efficient way to generate electric energy is still solar and wind.

But in comparison with fossil it would mean that the fossil installations have to be disbanded. We can't just do that, and so in order do so we need alternative energy produce the same amount that fossil does.

I think about creating energy by two magnets on top of each other, like the hydroncolider. imagine a circular negative track
and a massive block of negative. two forces won't connect by nature, but what if you let the block ride on the track? would it create a energy, a force, because by having two negatives/positives the energy that is created because they push each other creates a force that could somehow be harnessed.

The most efficient is hydroelectric, followed by: nuclear, solar, oil, wind, geo-thermic, pressure-tanks  and springs.

The reason why hydroelectric is not the primary source of power is because waterfalls capable of being fitted with a power-plant on them are very rare.

in fact the real problem is not how to generate energy but how to stock it. that's why fossil energies are so useful. you can stock them and use them whenever and wherever you want to. in germany they are trying in some cities to convert and therefore stock solar and wind energy into the production of hydrogen. hydrogen which can be used when needed. In some other places they are planning on using these energies to refill water in dams and create hydro energy.

My farts are rather powerful, I'm sure you could generate enuff energy to do your upload from it.
