kinematics?

mad max starts at rest and drives his car accelerating at 7.5m/s^2 towards a tractor trailer truck headed towards him at a constant speed of 130 km/h. if they are exactly half a kilometer apart, how far from max's starting position will they collide? I am not necessarily asking for an answer to the question, but how would one begin to solve it? I have just started physics in my junior year and have little background knowledge on kinematics.

You should start by drawing a diagram of the situation listing what you know about the subjects and their relationship to each other, and then listing the unknown information in a explanatory manner.  I find that usually helps people think.
