Take some standard pharmaceutical glycerol and perform a nitration process upon it. Result makes a big impression.

Potassium Chlorate, mix it with sugar, light it on fire, should work. A better reaction is Potassium Perchlorate with Aluminum powder, mesh +400

1) Potassium perchlorate + aluminum powder mesh +400
2) Potassium chlorate + sugar
3) Iron Oxide + Aluminum powder + sparkler to light it (i suggest putting this one over a few nonessential metal items, followed by a mound of dirt on top of a rock pile)
