Therapit Trolling

I was in the middle of a therapy session with my therapist and my Atheism came up as a topic of discussion; as part of his argument for me to convert to Christianity, he stated that 1+1 doesn't always equal 2.
He based his assertion that 1 drop of water combined with another drop of water yields 1 drop of water.

So what would be a could counterargument?

You still have twice the amount. i.e. 1 mol and 1 mol still equals one 1 mole regardless of how it travels. I fail to see how this defeats atheism, unless it's an attack on science?

*still equals 2 moles rather, sorry.

You could be working in a lattice where "+" can be interpreted as join and 1 is a greatest element.  I've seen this notation used before and in this case, 1 + 1 = 1.

The obvious conclusion is that atheism is wrong.

You could mention how if the question was meant as a mathematical operation, then he should conform to the accepted rules of arithmetic, and if he deviating from them, then he should preface his query with the necessary information, or else he is being dishonest, which his god would strongly disapprove of, as it is a form of lieing and he is a dirty dirty dirty filthy fucking LIAR and should burn in hell for such a piece of pretzel logic bullshittery.

Don't be mad just because this guy proved your atheism to be irrational.

he may as well have "proved" that a ham sandwich is a tap dancer.

Tell him that a drop isn't a defined unit. The volume of the combined drop is still twice that of the original two separate ones.

lol therapy

lets assume that x stands for a standard drop of water
explain to him that 1x + 1x = 2x
there is one drop, but there is twice as much of it
you therapist is stuck on first grade math; i'd find someone new...

and his reasoning is the same as this;
there are two individual mounds of dirt, each weighing exactly 1 ton. when combined you have a single pile of dirt.
he fails to recognize the massive change in quantity.

math/science > retarded therapists

The great logician Bertrand Russell once claimed that he could prove anything if given that 1+1=1.  So one day, some smarty-pants asked him, "Ok.  Prove that you're the Pope." He thought for a while and proclaimed, "I am one.  The Pope is one.  Therefore, the Pope and I are one."

lol wut? Why is your therapist, who is supposed to be objective and supportive, pressuring you to join a fucking cult, with bad maths no less?

Don't change these.
