Self-Destructive Behavior

What would you call it when someone or something displays attack behavior towards another individual or member not expecting retaliation thereby initiating its own self-destruction by proxy from the other individual or member?

Okay, let's say they've feigned ignorance about consequences such as reciprocity. They literally are perplexed by retaliation!!! I think they've forgotten all about reciprocity and have totally gone over to a corrupted form of altruism thinking we'll do unto them as we would have them do unto us (just take it) rather than do unto them as they've done unto us (retaliate). Are they really that naive???
