Ok, so I missed a week of school and bombed a test today and need to make up alot of work or else I'm going to fail. I know nothing about the work I'm doing and I need some help bad.

the largest ruby in the world is 10.9 cm long, 9.10 cm wide and 5.80 cm thick, giving it an overall volume of 575 cm3. if the density of the ruby is 3.97 g/cm3 ,what is the mass of the largest ruby?

Multiply mass by volume, and re-figure your volume, you should keep as much precision as possible and only round at the last step.

So the largest ruby in the world is shaped like a box?

d=mv

well you want to cancel units.

So

cm^3 * (g / cm^3) = g

This is called dimensional analysis and is used every day.

why do they use such a snobby word as analysis when all that it is is unit derivation through simplification

Don't change these.
