You are quite unfairly targeting the religious and the Republicans. Need I remind you it was the current President that has scrapped NASA development and mission plans altogether (it may as well be altogether)? We aren't even really going to do our own custodial or obligatory work. Additionally, being an atheist is not a prerequisite for NASA employment.
I want to be fair with your understanding of my opinion: I think we should be able to (go to other planets) but I am not interested in going personally. I would very much like to work on the technology that could accomplish it, however (I'm on the wrong career path to do it sadly). At the moment, however, even if we develop travel at the speed of light, it would still take us
127 years to get to the planets outlined in the article and that's still an unmanageable length of time for humans.
