Alright /sci/, I took a break from /k/ to come ask you smart chem guys a question.
I have some ammonium nitrate, sugar, paper and other crap that I keep reading about. Can you tell me the proper ratio of chemicals to use in order to yield a good amount of smoke?

You should start by not wasting your AN.

Save the ammonium nitrate.
Go order potassium nitrate(KNO3) from ebay...or...anywhere on the internet actually. Shit's everywhere. Stir the KNO3 together with the sugar at a ratio of 2 parts sugar, 3 parts potassium nitrate. Pour this dry mix into a cooking pot or deep pan and place over LOW heat until it begins to clump. From here, stir it and break up the little clumps, keeping your heat consistant and eventually it will begin caramelizing into a brown, viscous composition. Keep stirring this and find a suitable container to pour it into. Or you can pour it out onto aluminum foil, or dump it on the ground. You can wait for it to cool into what should look like pecan preline w/o the nuts, or just light it right after pouring it out. Or dump it on your heat source it's really multipurpose shit.
Careful around open flames though, I've had 4-6 mixtures catch in the pan while we were doing this.
