Doing physics practice questions and my worked solutions said that:

   - these forces exist "during and immediately after the collision" -

...in relation to describing the unbalanced frictional forces that are acting on a car in a real life collision (to demonstrate that momentum is not conserved in the non-isolated system)?...

What is the significance of saying this and does this mean anything different to just saying that forces are unbalanced in a real life collision?

absorption (a form of integration increasing mass and potential velocity)

-or-

deflection (a form of surfing the cosmos and gaining kinetic velocity)
