New Earth-sized planet found

Is it possible to reach this planet with our current technology? If so, do tell.

And if you want, this can also be a general interstellar travel thread.

No.  40 light years may be relatively close in terms of stars but it's still really, really far away.  Suppose we had a spaceship that could go 100,000 m/s (we don't); it would take 120,000 years to go 40 light years.

Interstellar travel is horseshit and will never happen.

Besides, there's nothing out there that we don't have here.

the only way is using solar sails, it takes a while but after some time you'll be traveling at .5c or so and so the rest of the journey is smooth sailing

you guys are thinking INSIDE the box. It would ake a really long time to travel there by conventional motion, so unless we suspend or prolong our lives, yes, we will not directly visit these places.
We will one day use wormholes to travel almost instantly if need be.

he asked if it was possible using current technology, and solar sails is the only thing i can think of that could actually get someone there(even if he would be dead by the time he gets there)
