Others to look into would be California Polytechnic Institute (CalPoly), Worchester Polytechnic Institute (Worchester Poly, pronounces Wooster), and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
Good luck, I'm trying to get into MIT myself.

Good luck to you also, RPI really caught my eye, and will definitely apply there.
what the hell?? You go from MIT/Caltech who are ranked pretty much #1 in the world, at least in science, to Cal Poly? Cal Poly isn't even ranked worldwide, except for maybe a few masters programs that are NATIONALLY ranked.
Also, pretty much every university in America spends a shit load of money on scientific research

MIT is a pretty prestigious school with high expectations and requirements.
I'll apply there, but the chances of me getting in is very doubtful.
OP here, took a look at GMU, friend says they have good Science programs

Damn you people with money.
My dream is to get in MIT, but I was born in a shitty place so it's impossible for me to get in there.
Community colleges, here I go!

lol, America. In "evil socialist" countries like Norway, higher education is completely free, save for a mandatory $20 fee per semester for printing and copying.

Who said I thought socialism was evil? I'm looking at EU colleges/universities.

guys, supposed to be college thread
I need some to look at, My swedish friend showed me Uppsala Universitet, their website looks promising, but does anyone know anything about? as in went there/knew someone who went there?
You mean you get to keep spending your income on ridiculously priced education and healthcare instead of getting it for free and paying it off indirectly through taxes later in life when you actually have money to spend.
I don't know about Swedish ones, but the University of Oslo is considered the best Nordic one. I got accepted there, and I'm fucking loving it. Great student life and awesome lecturers.

if you are looking at chemistry specifically, you might look at areas which have high levels of employment in chemical industries, Cork in Ireland is a good example, UCC has a good science department
Most university rankings, if I'm not mistaken. Can't be buggered to look for them - do that yourself if you're interested. If not, then /care.

You are. Mistaken, that is. I searched for "university rankings" and both Sweden and Denmark had universities ranked above UiO in every list I looked at.
Kind of tangential, but how is everyone's IT infrastructure? Do you have full wifi coverage at campus? Well maintained computer labs? Good support for all standard platforms? Decent IPv6 support?
