Looking for a little help here. What formula would I use tyo figure out how much force it would take to propel a 250 lb. object 5 ft. in the air? Any one wanna just figure it out for me lol?

The work done against gravity to move a 250 lb (~113 kg) 5 ft (~1.52 m) is ~1700 Joules, by the formula U = mgh

Since you said 'propel', I'm assuming you're trying to launch a rather heavy object to 5 feet with some kind of explosion; thus you'd need an explosion that can impart that said amount of energy. There's no realistically easier way to put it because the colloquial usage of 'force' is different from the physics usage of 'force'.
