any religion humans practice.

Look at Skinner's pigeons, cargo cults, and any traditional religion. Modern organised religions require too much political machinery.

Quite animistic. These quotes are about a gorilla.

Bah. WTF. Let's try that again. *Ahem*

We humans stand out among currently living species as being the only ones with a developed imagination. We alone are able to dream of things that do not exist. Some other species get tantalizingly close, like gorillas and some birds, but it is always a bit disappointing to see how limited they are.

There have been some shrines found dating back nearly a million years (well before Homo sapiens), but their purpose is completely unknown.

Anyway, asking what it would look like is meaningless. That's like asking what the best seller would be if octopi could write books. 4's quote about how a gorilla interprets death is the the most you can say. Chimps don't have the physical capacity for religion.

there is already chimpanzee 'culture', where in certain groups of chimps they will use wood tools for the same purpose that 'tribes' of chimps not too far away use stone. not only that, but they teach their offspring to use the wood tools exclusively in one group, maybe because the dominant chimp is superstitious or conditioned to somehow, but that the offspring who learn it from the dominant chimp uses it without knowing exactly why, and passing that to their own offspring, it becomes more.
you know, there is a great degree of similarity between human brains and those of other animals, i would not at all be surprised if they had moments of imaginative thoughts, if not more.

Animals are too smart to become religous. That's my opinion!

They put their hands together after they beat a member of an opposing family to death.

There would be one chimpanzee who becomes known by the majority of chimpanzees by using guidance and leadership traits that seem so impressive but are really just common sense and the rest of the chimpanzees get pissed off enough to hang him on a tree, but the memory of this chimpanzee was so strong that believing he died causes too much sorrow and grief, and his teachings of how to eat ants with sticks inspires hope and renewed faith that he is the way, the truth and the light to tasty tasty ants.

THE PROBLEM IS, THE CHIMP YOU HEAR ABOUT AND THE CHIMP THAT LIVED ARE TWO DIFFERENT CHIMPS.

You're an ignorant moron who's never interacted with chimpanzees or gorillas.
A lot of animals are capable of imagination, even outside the great apes.
