AP Chemistry textbook recommendation

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-28 0:36

I normally tend to suck at chemistry but I decided to sign up for AP chem my senior year anyways so I have all APs in schedule.
I'm looking for suggestion on good Chem textbooks to read and do practice problems so I'm not so behind when class starts.
What did you use? Any places that also offer video lectures are also good but mostly looking for textbooks with solid explanations and good problems with answers provided to check later. I'd also prefer if it's something that's easy to find scanned online

any first year textbook will do they are all the same, doesn't matter what edition you get

so I have all APs in schedule

I am curious, which ones?

Oh yeah, for our course we used "Chemistry: The Central Science."

But you can find old editions for twenty bucks.  Search craigslist for "Chem 101" or ebay or amazon for "general chemistry" book.

AP Calc BC
AP Stats
AP Chem
AP Macroecon
AP Eng
AP Environmental
AP European Hist
I been taking APs since freshman year so I'm not too worried about the others. It's chem that I manage to suck at most.

What is "AP environmental?" More global warming propaganda?

Also, if that is AP english literature you are taking, don't bother... it's gay and it's too much work and you'll regret wasting the time you spent "studying literature."  Total waste of school time plus it ruins the books that are actually enjoyable.

On the other hand, if it's AP english language, and all you need is a 4 for university credit, don't even bother taking the course (unless you need to for hs graduation or something).  It isn't an exam worth studying the whole year for.  Just do a couple of practice exams and write it.  It's pretty easy.

I would strongly recommend using that extra time to study for chemistry, simply because the chemical principles you learn there are useful in so many fields of science, and there is a lot to learn and appreciate in that course.
