Schools in Canada, Pre-Med?

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-20 14:29

I am predominantly interested in attending medical school after I complete my bachelors, the only problem is, I don't know what to do for my bachelors, I'm going to look at The University of Toronto, and Ryerson University at some point in the coming weeks, and I know I want to do a core science with some math involved, I love the idea of studying physics, or astrophysics/astronomy. The only problem is I never had strong math marks through high-school, I was bored out of my mind at that point.
I plan on taking two adult night school courses between now and when I would attend such a nice school (much nicer than my own school anyways,) one course in physics, and the other in functions so that I have a chance a studying in a field such as this. The issue comes in to play when they look at my previous studies, neuroscience, I may stick with it, I know I won't stick with my current school though, it's terrible, it reminds me of a giant high-school, full of all the kids who didn't have the marks to go somewhere else.
I am also very qualified to study biology having a diploma in health sciences, and two near perfect semesters of biology work at a post-secondary level. I am also going to look at The University of Western Ontario at some point in the coming weeks, and am highly considering the Bachelor's of Medical Science program there, it seems the wisest choice, although I am uneasy about it's fall back options should I not meet the requirements for admission to a medical school.
The reason I am so concerned about my undergraduate is that should I fail to enroll, or complete my medical education for any reason I would like to earn my doctorate of science and teach at a university level.
So anon, which field do you think would be better for attending a medical school in Canada, and still provide the desired fallback of a teaching/research position as a professor at a University? Any suggestions of another field to look into?

just an update anon, I'm going to the University of Toronto for Physics, this will be my pre-med, although I may switch over to health sciences at some point due to it's relevance in my field of interest.

>>4  it's not that bad, here's a summery of my debt so far (everything till the asterisk was paid from savings and accrued no debt) it's also where I currently am.

1) Pre-health sciences (useless, but I changed from compsci a month into a program and wasn;t able to get a refund, so I took a science to pass the time, at this point I was considering nursing then i saw what school nursing was like and figured I could do way more. *  3,000
2) 1 year cognition, behavior, and neuroscience (university of Windsor) also useless, didn't finish it, UWindsor was a shit hole Still got my medschool pre-req in bio out of it though   *  7,000
3) University of Toronto Physics, 4 years 8,000/yr (est) 32,000
University of Toronto School of Medicine 4 years 18,000/yr = 72,000

so assuming I don't screw up my undergrad and have to do something else to make up for it I can look forward to a total school cost of 114,000$ + books= (setting books at 1000 for med school, per semester, and 700 for undergraduate)114,000+ 11,700 = 125,700$
