I need to get someone to extract my cat's brain and put some sort of preservation fluid before I cremate it. Who does this kind of thing? I mean, it would be kind of weird to ask the vet to do it. And what would I need to preserve the brain and where would I get it from?
I have until Tuesday, it's in cold storage right now.

an embalmer or funeral director could do it. though it might be tough to get one to. there are probably laws and restrictions on what they can and can't do. you could always do it yourself. http://www.google.com/search?q=embalming+chemicals don't have a clue where to buy something like that though.

Thanks. I was thinking of maybe a taxidermist or maybe even a university. But I'm not sure if even they'd do something like that.

the frontal cortex were dissected and frozen. The left
hemispheres were cryoprotected by successive 24-hour
immersions in 10%, 20%, and 30% sucrose in Sorenson’s
phosphate buffer immediately before sectioning. Fixed,
cryoprotected brains were frozen and sectioned in the
horizontal plane at 10 >m using a Cryostat (Leica, Ban-
nockburn, IL), with sections collected serially. The right
