Here is the problem....

302 of 1008 random adults voted for ect...  A) obtain a point estimate for the proportion of people that voted ect...

that is just   302/1008 so i got about .300     

but for   b)  verify that you can construct the interval, so i did   1008*.300(1-.300) and i got 211.68, which is greater then or equal to 10, so yes i can construct it

. but i cant do c )  its      

c)  Construct a 98% confidence interval for the proportion of people who voted ect....   we have just been using t and z interval functions on a graphing calc, but im not sure what to enter for the mean and standard deviation in a problem like this

could somebody just explain to me where i get that data? Thanks a ton Anon

Are you allowed to use a TI-84,83,89? If so just use 1-PropZint, no need for standard deviation.

Hah, I just found that out about 5 mins before I read your post. Thanks a ton, because that's exactly what I can do. Even though eventually I'm going to have to learn the forumula. Thanks again though.
