Falling from very high

Is it true that if you free fall from a huge height you die before you hit the floor?
Why?

I doubt it. maybe due to an aircoushening effect but can't think of anything else.

From what I remember, it's because people have heart attacks when they fall unexpectedly, which is what kills them.

Come on guys, don't be stupid. Unless you have an underlying heart condition, you can't go into cardiac arrest from FEAR. If people who were in mortal danger always died of heart attacks, how many people would be alive today? That's just retarded. Further, you'd have to fall from a REALLY high place to even get the bends, let alone die from related conditions.

In short, no. Barring some extenuating circumstances, it's not true.

If you fall from like aeroplane cruising altitude, you'll pass out on the way down due to the lack of oxygen. Then you wake up a bit later when the oxygen level rises, just in time for the fun bit.

there were astronauts that sky dived from the outer edge of the atmosphere & were fine. though they did have special equipment to do so. so if you didn't have the oxygen supply and the warm clothing you would die from suffocation or hypothermia. but neither the falling nor the air can kill you.

People on the International Space Station live in Free fall, as they always are falling down to the earth, but "keep missing".
