Public Service Reminder: Only IQ scores achieved on professionally designed tests administered by psychologists mean anything at all. (Spoiler: Those tests only go up to 160)

Reality check: IQ matters none

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-19 22:15

Exactly. I don't know/care what my IQ is. I'm going to school and learning as much as I can. That's all that matters.

Your IQ definitely matters.  Knowing your IQ isn't as important.

163, last I checked. I get varied scores between 160 and 170.

Since no legitimate IQ tests go above 160, you have obviously been using shitty internet tests that mean nothing.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-29 15:30

Define a "legitimate" IQ test. There's really none as there is no reliable way to "truly" measure an IQ.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-29 20:04

>>24
Legitimate =

1) Professionally administered by someone with a PhD
2) Scientifically scaled
3) NOT designed by a basement dwelling freak with no psychological experience.
4) etc. etc. etc.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-29 20:21

I'm about 155, give or take. That's why I'm posting on 4chan.

>there is no perfect way to "truly" measure an IQ.

IQ tests are reliable, but not perfect.  lrn2 psychology.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-29 20:49

ITT: a bunch of retards take online "IQ tests" in banner ads or one some fag's myspace page, which automatically puts you in the retarded range. Divide that score by 2 and you'll be closer to your actual IQ.

Also this from another thread:
>IQ is widely regarded as largely meaningless and is notoriously biased besides. It also has a long history of manipulated studies and outright fraud on behalf of various conservative groups.

Reliable to what extent? Something reliable has a use. IQ tests have no real use. You can't put the fact that you have an IQ of 140 on your resume.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-30 12:01

>>29
Retard.

The reason you can't put an IQ score on your resume (or more realistically, that potential employers can't give you an IQ test before they hire you) is because the supreme court decision Griggs v. Duke Power Co. forbids it, not because it's useless.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-30 13:25

I'm a 134

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-30 16:45

Last time when I got tested I got 127.  Now it's probably less, because I've stopped thinking (I've got no time for that, I must learn all those school subjects and shit).

HOEFLIN POWER TESTS LOL

It's amazing how good it makes you feel when somebody describes your IQ as "lies".

As for the reliability of online tests, I recently did a professional test administered by a registered psychologist. The test included many different categories, such as problem solving, vocabulary, shape-arranging and memory recollection.

I scored exactly the same score I have received on several "5-minute" online tests.

>HOEFLIN POWER TESTS LOL
I hope for you're own sake you're not being serious.  Hoeflin is an unqualified crackpot.

>>34
Oh well there you have it. The bullshit online test managed to get one right, so it must be accurate after all.

I got 121 on http://iqtest.dk/ , which I'm told has been used in a few college psychology classes.

Here's the list of tests Mensa accepts for admission.  I'd say it's a good starting point for defining what a "legitimate" IQ test is.
