Physics

Anyone have one, or going for a degree in physics?  I'm thinking about making it my major, although I have very little background on physics itself, though I've got the math background (I hope XD).

How is it?  Like I said, my experience with physics is very minimal, but the topics that it covers is very intriguing to me.

Im a Britfag so had to choose before I started Uni and am currently doing my PhD so its safe to say I enjoy it. ^_^

Honestly though I was never the kind of person who always thought thats the way they would go.  Don't get me wrong I always enjoyed science but it wasnt until a year or two before Uni that I properly decided that it was the route I wanted to take (Note 2 years before Uni over here you only do two subjects).  What I also found was that the more indepth and the further I got into my course the more I enjoyed it.

If you like understanding how things work and delving the mysteries of the universe then Physics is very much for you.  I'm not going to lie it is alot of hard work espcially if you want to do well and in the final year you can kiss your social life goodbye but then if you enjoy it theres not much of a choice.

With the exception of the final year I did have and do have a decent social life going.  You will meet people on your course that just shove themselves in a closet and work all the time, heck some of my mates do/did, but you will also meet some regs and some of the nicest people about.  Physics really does tend to attract a really wide variety of people.

When it comes down to it, do what you enjoy.  I don't think there are any subjects that I know where people have been completely unable to have any social life what so ever and that includes Medics who have to work a fuckton.
