This is what religion does to people

"I think I have lost my salvation:(

I sinned greatly against God by purchasing a game I rented first, then evenually bought and several believers on here told me not to purchase but I gave in to the temptation and purchased it anyway. I played the game through rental and eventually purchased it. After awhile I started to realized that I sinned through Bible reading and I began to weep and beg God and at first I contemplated on selling the game and my system but I decided to give the system away to a family member who lives with me. She now has the game and system. I'm wondering first if I did the right thing and if it would have been better for me to sell both the game and the system and get rid of it? I feel like I sinned against God so much over the last 2 years that I have run out of chances and I feel really scared now that I may not be saved.

I want to apologize to my brethern and sisters on here who warned me not to buy it."

Religion is very cruel indeed. It frightens me that had we been born into a religious family like the above poor soul's, we would've been brainwashed into cowering before God like mindless drones, a God who is supposedly "love." This is simply sickening.

Curious; I wonder what game it is, GTA, perhaps?

Religious texts generally predate electronic media by centuries, if not millenia; I find it hard to see how games are a sin in the first place.  If "God" actually cared about this game, then this guy just dug himself an even deeper trench, by helping his sister "sin".

Even more tragic is that religion breaks the will, so that one is even less able to resist "temptation".  This then leads to a self perpetuating cycle of "sin" - beg for forgiveness - assume forgiveness is granted - no need to restrain self - "sin".

It's more along the lines of contemplating and/or considering things decidedly sinful, no matter what form of media the subject is initially influenced through.
