dumb pre-lab chem question

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-03 15:52

so this pre-lab question says:
"What is the correct laboratory procedure to ensure that all of the solid originally dissolved does not leave the test tube for the dissolving solid?"

I looked through the lab manual and I can't figure this out, I may be over looking something obvious here.

What?  solid dissolving solid?  Are you doing some crazy metallurgy?

"dissolving" is a verb or an adjective?

Did you try washing the tube walls down with water?

Did you try centrifuge at low speed?

There's only one way to parse the OP so that it makes sense. Don't be an idiot.

Pardon me for phailing hard at reading comprehension, but I honestly can't understand what the question is asking.  Is it asking how to get rid of the liquid without losing the solid?  In that case you boil off the liquid.

The way im reading it is that the dissolved solid will leave the test tube and go to 'the dissolving solid'

It makes no sense
