Asking for evidence or proof vs research

Name: AnOnYmOuS 2U 2008-04-29 19:34

This thread would probably be a good spot to post ideas and reasonable explanations as to why it is futile to ask for evidence or proof in a text-based Board; but more importantly should asking for proof or evidence take the place of actual first-hand research? Moreover, should inability to observe or measure a potentially viable event be the closing of the book on the IDEA that it supports or should it be dismissed as non-existent. Basically, should we use our imagination to discover the unknown and become self-aware, or rely solely on observation and measurements to continue our exploration into our already rich and fulfilling lives?

Once again, trying to displace the importance of EVIDENCE is fairly deranged and demonstrates a strong mental illness.

Conclusions follow from EVIDENCE, not from wishing and belief.

Sure, as non-researchers for the most part, most of us have to rely on disconnected systems which produce the evidence by which we rationally conclude things.  However, society cannot run on a bunch of scientists establishing everything for themselves.  It's the aggregate that's important, and roundly educated men can tell the difference between sound results and outright bullshit.  Over time, even the subtle bullshit gets weeded out, as falsehoods are exposed and subject to rightful concentration and derision.

As our culture comes to value emotive news over more concrete news, it becomes easier for your type of fuckfag to dispense wishful garbage as factual.  In effect, you're POISONING our belief systems with illogical nonsense.  A real, rational society should have by now laughed you off this message board, and hopefully into a Lithium-based treatment program so that your mental illness could receive the help it deserves.  But the level of rationality in our society is steadily decaying, and the rational and learned men like myself are effectively falling at the gates of Stalingrad.  The metaphorical city might be saved, this time, but our very lives will be sacrificed for it.  And it's just to stop people like YOU -- the barbarians screaming at the gate.
