Turns out atoms aren't really indivisible units of matter after all. Yay for protons, neutrons, and electrons! Oh crap, protons and neutrons are made of up and down quarks. Similarly, we can't conclude that strings don't exist because it
might take another 1000 years to discover evidence for strings. Of course, in the absence of evidence, it is also too early to claim their existence.
