Polyphasic Sleep (2-4 hrs/day by napping)

You basically take 15-30 minute naps every 4-6 hours around the clock.  Optionally, you can also sleep 2-3 hours once a day in addition to the naps.  I've been doing this for a week and feel alert most of the time..  is it healthy to carry this out in the long run?

Having read several diaries of polyphasic sleepers, it appears that the brain compensates by allowing you to get to sleep almost instantly. Furthermore, studies have shown that "gamma" level sleep is entered almost straight away, allowing for just half an hour of sleep to be quite refreshing.
