the wiki article gives #s for the sequence in which atomic orbitals are filled, but i want to know exactly how much energy is required for each orbital if anyone knows that information or if it even exists. thanks for any and all help

The orbital energy of an electron in shell n is -13.6 (z/n)^2 eV where z is the number of protons in the nucleus.

cool, thanks. but how do i distinguish between orbitals, like 4s vs 3d? how much energy would those have?

Don't change these.
