Effects of ethanol alcohol

The effects of any alcoholic beverage should be the same given the same alcohol content, yet I've noticed varying effects depending on the type, brand, and cost.  If all alcohol molecules are the same, then it shouldn't matter whether it was produced from wheat, rye, grapes, etc.  So what accounts for the different effects?

Alcohol is hardly the only ingredient of most alcoholic drinks.
For the most part, though, it's psychological.

It is also a function of the concentration of alcohol, how much you consume and how long you drink it over.

There are 2 main factors which determine how much you can comfortably drink. How much total fluid you can consume before discomfort and the concentration of alcohol you can take before discomfort. For this reason it is easier to consume alcohol in wine form than it is to consume in whiskey or beer form. A full glass of wine could contain as much alcohol as 4 beers.

Total body fluid is also a factor. Women tend to binge drink because they emulate male drinking habits in terms of volume and drink cocktails with alcohol content slightly higher than wine, possibly optimum to allow for maximum alcohol consumption before discomfort as outlined by the factors in the last paragraph.

Don't change these.
