Retarding Force

What is the speed of a 222 kg satellite in an approximately circular orbit 656 km above the surface of Earth?  7488.47m/s
What is the period? 97.65min
Suppose the satellite loses mechanical energy at the average rate of 2.0  105 J per orbital revolution. Adopt the reasonable approximation that the trajectory is a "circle of slowly diminishing radius"
Determing the altitude at the end of its 1600th revolution. 316450 m
Determine the speed at the end of its 1600th revolution.
7.535e3m/s
Determine the period at the end of its 1600th revolution. 90.66min
What is the magnitude of the average retarding force during this revolution?
?
Ok, so what the hell is an average retarding force and how big is it? (In before anything relating to me being the retarding force.)

"In before anything relating to me being the retarding force."
LOL damnit, you stomped it even before it had a chance.

Retarding force just means drag force, frictional force, or a force opposing motion.

Defintion of work: work = integral(F dx)

If this integral is over one revolution then the left side is 2.0105 J, and the right side is avg(F)*2*pi*r.

Ahh, wow that was dumb of me to not think of that.  What I was thinking before was way too complicated.  So yeah, you can have fun calling me a retarded/retarding force now if you like, but meh.

"Use the retarding force, Lunkhead"

Don't change these.
