cDNA, wtf is it?  Q: Why must cDNA be used to engineer the plasmid to be inserted into a bacterium?  wtfux?!

cDNA is the "complimentary or clone" DNA.  It is the complimentary DNA version of the mRNA transcript.  You need to put it into a vector because you can't put RNA into a vector if you want it transcribed.
