I will never, ever, EVER, EV-FUCKING-ER understand stats. This is what I'm up against. Why the fuck is this a required course for social work?

1.    Your friend has a die that he believes is fixed.  You think it is a fair die.

a)    What are the hypotheses you would set up to ttest if the die was fair?
b)    Say you rolled the die 120 times, what would the expected values be for the six possible rolls?
c)    How many degrees of freedom would you have in this experiment?
d)    Let’s say you did the experiment and got the following values:

1    2    3    4    5    6

4    15    25    36    22    18

           Is the die fixed or is it fair?

2.    The following table shows the number of people that were given an experimental drug for treating heart attacks

Treatment       Control
            Outcome          Group          Group

            Survived           38                29
            28 days

            Did not             7                17
            Survive

Is the outcome, dependent on the drug?  In other words, does survival depend on the drug taken?

3.    I obtained the following values for numerous statistics based on a design with three groups.

Group 1        Group 2        Group 3

mean    15            25            50

n    5            5            5

SSBG = 650
SSWG = 200

Please construct an ANOVA summary table for these data.  Was there a significant difference between the means?

Use chi-squared.

The reason why stats is a required course for social work is that if you ever have to say look at some FUCKING EVIDENCE EVER, if you don't have stats, you won't understand it.

Stats is fucking easy.  It's all about dividing lots of small numbers by big numbers.  Essentially you want your results to be somewhere between -1 and 1.  It's a boring class though.

stats is not worthy to belong to mathematics.

It gets more useful once you leave middle school.

Why the fuck is this a required course for social work?
Because innumeracy is the cancer that is killing society.
If you find this at all challenging, do the rest of us a favor and kill yourself now.

yeah, cuz it's actually useful? boo hiss

God, help us solve this!

What the fuck?
A. Stats is dead simple. Easiest thing since grade school algebra.
B. How can you not see that without statistics it's completely impossible to use measurements in an intelligent way?

I hope you're joking.

PS: Use an F-statistic.

Don't change these.
