So what does the body make hair out of?

Let's say I let my underarm hair grow to its maximum length and then shave it. When it starts regrowing, what additional materials is my body now using up that it wouldn't have otherwise?

Your body is actually using brain mass as the materials to grow hair so don't shave at all. Everyone knows, people with lots of hair are smart. (except blond women).
