Blame TV

Researchers at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center of Seattle studied 1,345 children (Pediatrics, April 2004) and concluded that any television watching during the first two years of life affects the "hardwiring" of the brain. The more a child watches fast-moving images, the more of the brain commits to neural networks that track them. The result: slower-motion patterns, such as social interaction, are crowded out, leaving the child highly susceptible to ADHD. This phenomenon knows no cultural bounds—so-called educational programs have just as strong an effect as junk programming.

Don't change these.
