Cu+HNO3 -> What?
I have 3 theories:
1) 3Cu + 8HNO3 -> 3Cu(NO3)2 + 4H2O + 2NO seems most viable
2) Cu + HNO3 -> CuNO3 + H2 too easy to be true.
3) Cu + HNO3 -> no reaction, since Copper is lower on the Activity Series of Metals than Hydrogen, and thus will not replace the hydrogen in the nitric acid.
Also, thanks.
