Fail because Noah's Ark was obviously a fable. It tells us that being prepaired will make you win in the long run. Next you'll tell me that Aesop's tales are real too.
The plot is impossible because
Thousands of pairs of animals as you put it would die on a wooden ark. With only 4 or so people cleaning up after them, the wood would incubate deadly bacteria from the animal's excriment. What about fresh water fish? Meat eaters? Parasites? The whole story (which is a retelling of a Utnapishtim from Gilgamesh) is full of holes, because it's a parable.
