Except that you have to generally monetize LSD by
selling it to others, and that exposes you to law enforcement. Producing your own fuel monetizes itself by saving you expense. Also (and currently), it's just not illegal to produce your own fuel, which is diametrically opposed to LSD. I'm sure that will change if the common man actually gets running with basement stills for producing fuel, when the option is available and gas is north of $5/gal.
Hopefully, we who can afford to construct local bioreactors for fuel can do so, and will be in small enough numbers that the government will find it too expensive (or not having enough ROI on arrests and convictions, which is the same thing) to chase us. We happy few will be making fuel in our garden sheds for perhaps 20% of the cost of all the corporate fluid at the gas stations. Of course, this 20% or so will come after making the capital investment, which any sensible man will budget $2000 for. Given the possible savings of at least $500/yr, that will work out just fine.
