Knowledge has made life more difficult

Name: Anonymous 2007-05-13 22:45 ID:T+FeO8WF

As civilization has emerged from primal chaos, life has become more and more difficult, and human beings have become progressively weaker, as we are relying more on labor-saving devices then our bodies. While our bodies are falling into a state of disrepair from not being used enough, our minds are being worn out from overuse. We have lost the spiritual connection with mother nature that we once had. Technology is a disease. It's killing us and our planet. It's time we cure ourselves, and go back to nature, be free again. No more worrying about school, money, or jobs, just survival. Let's give up our knowledge and let the instinct that is buried deep within us take over.

we cant go backward

This is Space Age, and we are here to go. However, the Space Program has been restricted so far to a mediocre elite; who with great expense have gone to the Moon in an aqualung. Now they\'re not really looking for space, they\'re looking for more time. Like the lungfish and the walking-catfish, they weren\'t really looking for a new dimension different from water, they were looking for more water. But some of them found they had taken an irretrievable forward step, and for better or for worse, left their gills to their makers. And as we leave the aqualung of time, we may step into an epic, comparable to the days when the early mariners set out to explore an unknown world. I can see all manner of spacecraft, some of them obviously lethal, preparing to takeoff. Only those who are willing to leave everything they\'ve ever know in time need apply. It is necessary to travel, it is not necessary, and becoming increasingly difficult, to live.

Right, surviving in the wild is a lot easier than spending 6 whole hours per day in school or 8 at work.

Just curious, how does your "omg technology is teh evil" rhetoric deal with the fact that life expectancy has skyrocketed over the past 200 years? Or with the fact that you're posting it on the FUCKING INTERNET.

... or the fact that this is not a /sci/ topic

Enjoy your untreated smallpox and diabeetus.

Life is more mentally challenging, but far easier physically.

Leaving time?  What is that supposed to mean?

worrying about school, jobs, money > worrying about finding food, surviving an infected cut on the leg, trying not to have your babies die on you.

Life isn't even more mentally challenging for the vast majority of people. I suggest everyone saying otherwise are just fatass asocial nerds who can't get laid and blame it on civilisation - which allowed them to live in the first place.

Our minds adapt and wire in amazing ways.  Those who cannot cope become an hero.  We now have time for intellectual and athletic pursuits.  Go to the library, meditate, workout, sleep.

Plus I would say for most people life is LESS mentally challenging as machines take more and more workload.  The only ons who are challenged more are the people who make it happen.

It's your fault you can't cut it shitbag.

As civilization has emerged from primal chaos, life has become easier and easier, and humanity has become progressively stronger, as we have become one with technology. While our bodies survive much longer through being cared for better, our minds continue to enable the unstoppable force of progress. We have overcome the need for any sort of 'spiritual' connection with mother nature. Technology is our tool, empowering us to get the most out of our planet. No more continuous worrying about survival, just a bit of work, learning, and a lot of fun.

Technology is the cancer that's killing me? O_o

In all seriousness, I feel the effect that >>1 describes every time I leave the house without my cellphone. I feel weak and naked.

But in order to regain that strength, we must basically reject the standard behaviors dictated by society. To gain a simple (strong?)life, we've gotta ditch the values that have been taught to us and go for it.

That's hard.
