(1) (a) We roll a die 80 times and get a sum of 268. Do we have evidence at the 5% level that the die is unfair (we will call it unfair if the theoretical mean isn’t 3.5)? Do we have evidence at the 5% level that it’s weighted in favor of lower numbers? (Assume the standard deviation for the die is 1.708 in any case.) (b) Same question, when the die sums to 2680 after 800 rolls.

for part a i keep getting .2148 but the book says its 0.4296. any idea where im fucking up?

sorry that was kinda vague im using the formula (P(of sample)-p)/(standard deviation/square root of n) and i get around -.788 and on the zchart that is .2148... any ideas?

0.4296 is double 0.2148 you might notice.  I figure you want a two-tailed test.  (Unfair die could be biased low or biased high.) You found 0.2148 for the left tail, just add another 0.2148 for the other tail.
