How does the size of M100 compare to the size of a supernova remnant

Bigger.
Messier 100 is a big spiral galaxy, and so is likely hundreds of billions or trillions of solar masses. A supernova remnant however, is just the outer layers of a single massive star, which would typically be tens of solar masses.
