Logic

Do you think logic, like predicate logic should be taught in high school? How complex do you think they should go? Should all the mathy looking symbols be used or just normal words?

I think logic should be taught; it is a sort of skill and very useful because people can grasp sentences better and identify contradictions and so no.

Yep

Philosophy (and logic) needs to be taught in schools, I know of some classes that offer a tad classical philosophy but it ends there. Im not even sure if highschool students are even capable of handling the issues that spring up after the Greeks though. I mean you can’t get anywhere after Kant without teaching him, and I would be surprised if the majority of students could even understand his points. Most college students can’t even grasp these issues.

Maybe we could teach non Kantian inspired philosophy, like Neinchze and the like. But pouring (mostly) continental philosophy on students that have no interest in the subject is silly and many would gain nothing from such endeavors.

Logic on the other hand is important for everyone and I believe it should be included in highschool; I would have killed for the opportunity to take a model logic class at that age.
